@EJisthecatalist because they're usually straight cut, just like the reverse gear. even the helical ones make noise because they're a lot wider than stock.
I just had this turbo put on my 06 wrx tr, made 316 hp 315 tq 91 oct pump gas on Church's dyno in LA. My supporting mods are Intake, big top mount, 750 cc injectors, fuel pump, headers, 3in turbo back catless. Boost starts to really pull around 3300 rpm and pulls hard trough the remaining powerband. Why are ppg's so loud?
judging by the other "MAPerformance" vids I see posted with a white wrx wagon and a big a** Deatsch Werks sticker on the drivers side door, I'd have to venture to say that with the fact that its running e85, which requires larger injectors than simply upgrading for a standard pump gas tune, they're most likely DW 850cc top feeds. Doubt they're the smaller top feed 750's since I myself am using DW740's (sidefeed, not top) on my 05 LGT 68HTA build on a pump gas tune.
this turbo spools like the vf series, but has the compression of a 20g. only thing that limits it is the 7cm2 hotside, therefore adding an external wastegate will help compensate by serving as an additional exit for exhaust gases aside from the turbo's hotside. So in short, FP HTA68>any vf series, 16g, 18g, and some 20's.
