Thanks for the comment and observation. Terry Cole does perform with live blades and didnt want to perform this stunt with a live but a semi live blade, there fore although the cut may not be all the way through, or 60% 40% he is thinking of his partners neck at the end of the day. Terry is no magician and what you see IS what you get.

You can see the sword going through the apple if you go frame by frame as i stated in my previous comment. In response to this comment by you, the explanation is simple. The sword, on it's way out pushes the halves of the apple into odd angles. Like with any knife, anything with moist flesh whether it be fruit or meat, will get stuck to the blade temporarily.

Nah, just play it frame by frame, however...

Grats on the use of physics Mr. Cole. Using a partially dulled blade, and cutting that slow with so little momentum is logically enough to cut through the solid surface and mass of an apple without going through skin due to it's strength and flexibility.

And again they way he strikes the apple, and how it falls apart, if falls apart a completely different way to the angle of the "sword"
