More than two decades in music and fourteen albums to his credit, these days publishes his latest work entitled "The Songs of Distant Earth."
British multi-instrumentalist inspired by the book of that title science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke, "which tells the story of" Oceana, "a world that welcomes the arrival of a ship, with the survivors of the earth:

MO: This novel is very interesting because one day be reality, not fantasy, into thousands of years in the future, maybe in a million, this book will really is like a prophecy.
It reminded me of the most famous novel by Arthur C. Clarke "2001: A Space Osdisea" was an excellent book that I could use for my music.

MO: I was looking for a vehicle that could add my music, something that was futuristic, something I had not done before, something not so Celtic as my previous work, something for the future and the future.

New technologies also have engaged Mike Oldfield, the first item on compact disc in "The Songs of Distant Earth" is a cut that integrates interactive multimedia sounds, traffic, video and animation.

MO: You put the CD, you begin to see the space, and a ship that comes to you, the ship turns around, opens a large gate, you enter into it through a tunnel, you come to this great city, and from within ship, at night, you see the lights of the city, descend and go through the streets, then you reach a large tower, you get in and then find a chair, then you have to guess a code to follow, once you do, you can explore the ship.

In "The Songs of Distant Earth", Oldfield has had to discover a whole new vocabulary of sounds made in the study:

MO: There are several samplers of sounds on the album that I imagine would be described as ethnic music, no music of Tahiti, Landan, and for some strange reason, the music of these primitive societies does not sound alien, is like music from another world like the sound of whales and the language of another world beneath the sea, is the closest to us in the civilized world, we can get the sound of foreign civilizations, to those faraway places under water "

Oldfield was only twenty when he published "Tubular Bells" in 1973, considered by many as the history of music "New Age". It took another 20 years to release it on the market "Tubular Bells II" which sold two million copies worldwide and half a million in Spain.

MO: You call my music "New Age" are two nice words, the only problem is that most of the "New Age" is repetitive and atmospheric, but for some people is fine. You can call the way you like: "Tortilla con patatas" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_omelette
