On April 12, 2009, Union Pacific 844 with UP heritage car set rolled into Ogden, Utah from Wyoming. I caught it on two runbys in Peterson and Uintah before it arrived at the Ogden Union Station.

  • Nice catch. Are you from this area, I was just in Ogden and Salt Lake City this weekend. I thought the state museum was quite interesting, and Gil Bennet's paitings were the highlight.

So what's the weird noise at 0:58 and why did everyone take off like they're leaving a baseball game in the seventh inning?

  • @virginiatruckee Yes I live in Ogden and am a volunteer at the Utah State Railroad museum. I'm the archivist in our little library. I listed to 0:58 the only thing I could make out is the locomotive whistle after it passed by blowing again. The people were dashing off to catch the train coming into the Ogden Yards which is only a couple of miles further west.

  • @lewitten Oh, yeah, doppler effect, that is the whistle. When I first heard it I thought it was some guy screaming, silly me. Keep up the great work at the musem, you have quite a photographic collection of locomotives and cars there. I think the Golden Spike car with the spike surrounded by the atom was the best, art-wise.
