I wouldnt worry too much about publishing. Worry about that when the time comes. Cross that bridge when you get there-- I think that's the saying lol. I love writing too! I have so many ideas for books its too much! I'm still trying to finish my first novel for crying out loud! I just love getting lost in the fantasy worlds. What about you? What kind of genre are you writing?
Aww dont feel hopeless! I know it seems like a lot and impossible, but it's not. Just keep thinking positive and know that this is your calling. If you feel that this is what you are meant to do, then do it! Dont let anything stand in your way and just keep at it. Soon all of the right doors will open and the right ppl will show up. Just keep positive and keep writing!
I believe that is how Eregon was noticed and the writer of "The Shack" self published his own book and that went huge. However, I think it's a big risk if you havent explored your other options and it's very costly. I've set the deadline for my book in August and hopefully things will pan out. God willing!
Plus you get to take classes. I'm not ruling anything out, maybe I'll do all of it. lol whatever it takes! I actually have an editor. I met him through a teacher and I'm lucky that he's willing to edit for free. He writes for a newspaper and has a few published books, so I'm hoping that when I'm done he might be able to get me in the door some where. Self publishing is a last resort for me. continued--->
Publishing is a up in the air for me. I've read that an author should send their work to every publisher in their genre, but now I'm hearing that many publishers wont read your work if you dont have an agent. I spoke with some authors last month who suggested going to a writing fair (sci-fi fantasy writers fair for me). It's about $300, but you get to meet with 2 publishers and 2 editors and you get a set amount of time to try and pitch your work. continued---->
YEAH haha it would be really exciting. I'm also trying to do as best as I can to get attention. What type of publishing are you doing? Are you considering self publishing? I really have no idea about it ugh lol!!
It would be awesome wouldnt it? Hell, I'd be thrilled if a publisher picks up my book when it's finished, but I'm working hard to make it good enough to draw a crowd like that :D
