Another gem from the rock/soul classic lp "Welcome" featuring the great Flora Purim on vocals, Stanley Clarke on bass, and the rest of the "new" Santana band.

  • Wow Santana's 'welcome' finally hipped in/to youtube...Man 'Welcome' is arguably the most challenging album to listen to, because of its low-fi production and,is in my opinion the(new)Santana band's most sraight ahead jazz release in it's discography. The way that the previous disc 'Caravanserai' oozed of Miles Davis's 'Bitches Brew'... When you listen to 'Welcome' you hear late 60's John Coltrane. Carlos was really into 'Trane and Indian spirituality..Was also 1st disc post Rollie/Schon

  • Most definitely!! Great insight regarding the poor fidelity this great lp was made from. It needs to be digitized and reissued. For me this album has more of a Mahavishnu flavor considering Carlos was totally committed spiritually to that way of life. Peace!

  • THIS is the Santana music that's kept me a fan of the man and the many incarnations of the Bands since the start. IMHO, the new stuff just ain't as good as the "old" stuff...

  • i have no words..... beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • First heard Yours is the light in my dorm room in early 75. Blew me away then and still does now.

  • Some of the best jazz musicains play in this album including the late joe Farrell , john Mcglauglin and flora purim. .Great album and stands the test of time.

  • Yeah, the "Return to Forever Ensemble" were mainly 1973-75 & this a year or so later.I saw "Return To Forever" 1973 or 74.The Welcome lp & Barboletto lp was almost all my wife & I listened to.

  • STILL gives me goose-bumps after all these years. Love this song!

  • Oh man, Santana - that tone and expression... it's not always about the speed, but musicality, spirituality and passion.. Thank you Carlos for being in the world... a total inspiration for me when I was in high school... that latin jazz vibe infusion is just blissful.. and go Flora! First time I heard this was on a Santana album called Lotus.. so tasty.

  • Flora Purim along with her husband Percussionist Airto Moreira ( both Brazilian) played/sang in the first Chick Corea's Return To Forever Album........Fantastic Record

  • I'd never forget my highschool days.

  • Music from the Angels
