Jeri explains how to attach a large electric leaf blower to a Whirlwind pinball machine and replace the tiny fan that blows air on the player during multiball. Thanks Trish for being the subject of this experiment.

  • This was originally documented by Tim Arnold on some old VHS tapes covering his Whirlwind machine/s and the idea that having a massive blower totally blow the person away. There may have been folks with this earlier, but the limiting factor mentioned on the video by Tim was that there was some serious liability (which there is with flying debri). Neat to see you implementing this and sharing it.

  • @HaikuAutomation Someone brings a machine like this every year to the California Extreme show. The debris can be managed with filters.

  • don't forget to play a round of pinball after the shower ;D

  • You need to load up that tube with leaves and ping pong balls before the game is played.

  • that's fucking insane

  • @dvdfrnzwbr Uhhm, OK, what's your point?

  • Good idea! I'm thinking of something similar if I get to build my pinball machine from scratch, except I'm using a floor fan blower and hook two tubes, side by side, and place the the tubes at the top of the pinball machine directing to the pinball player. It takes about half the amperage (I'm assuming leaf blowers take ~15A, floor fan blower take 7A). And push twice the force of the wind to you.

    : )))

  • mmmhuh....ok.........skematics are good...

  • Uhhm....the last time I went over somebodys house to play pinball was like 1978

  • The original fan wasn't bad, I think I'd be more shocked by the sudden loud noise from the leaf blower. Maybe just replace the original fan with one of those tornado household fans?

  • No way I be doing this to My Whirlwind pinball

  • cool idea. to loud.
