  • Christianity is what we're supposed to credit for the industrial revolution? What about China's industrial boom? China: one of the least religious countries in the world, is having an industrial explosion, and are pretty much on top of every other country on earth. It's pretty safe to assume Christ had nothing to do with it. So how do you explain that?

  • The protestant work ethic made a lot of company owners rich and a lot of gullible slaves poor. The PWE is just an excuse for covetousness and it usually comes from someone who also doesn't believe in paying his workers a decent days pay.

  • Protestant work ethic? I wonder if some people used this to make children work 16 hours during the industrial revolution.

This also contributed to capitalism, and it is definitely not working well, look at all the environmental problems, inflation, debt crisis and such.

Also when you look at some East Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore etc.. these people work hard but the culture is not rooted in Calvanism.

What drive the world into what it is today is because of greed.

  • @vulture3112

Precisely. In the United States, we have been cursed by this thinking. Money equals virtue, so thieves on Wall Street are better than the men who *work* for a living. Figure out *that* one.

  • God Bless John Piper!

I'm not from States but I feel great need for people like him to spread the word of God Biblically, not half Biblically and half dogmas like Roman Catholic Church does. God Bless them but there are some changes they need to accept.

PS; I'd love to hear John Piper's opinion about purgatory. I reject it a 100 percent since it's unbiblical, but unfortunately it seems to easily embraced by most or some Roman Catholics.

  • @tacotony24 ??????????????

  • Sounds like he has little or no control of thE VOLUME OF HIS VOICE!!

  • What about spiritual rest, contemplation?

  • I would like this better if he let off the theatrics because they get in the way of the lecture.
