The world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise, was retired from active service at its home port at Naval Station Norfolk on Saturday. It will eventually be towed to Washington state for scrapping. (Dec. 1)

    I find it a poor excuse for not preserving one of the most historical ships in world history.I know the parts of the ship they would have to work on and it would not be that costly.I served on her as a ships electrician and was all over her.

    It is not just the fule they are removing, but the reactors as well. They said the amount of cutting to decommission the vessel would leave too much costly work to preserve it as a museum.

    There has been a USS enterprise since 1775 why do ya think Captain Kirk favored antiquities. Former Enterprise sailor, O bye the way to become an enterprise crew man you must graduate in the top 10 percent of your class
