Ronald Reagan Versus The Hippies

This video is from the campaign trail, 1966. Reagan addresses the variety of radical student and the "Free Speech Movement" protests on the campus of the University of California--Berekley. At one point, students, and demonstrators blockaded a police car and used it as a platform to speak to the crowd. Lastly, Reagan's comments on the dance show how much American society has changed/collapsed in 40 years.

Reagan isn't that hot. He left America with massive national debt, and RR's type of thinking is killing us today. Reagan's amnesty for illegal aliens gave Democrats millions of extra votes. Further, with the end of the Cold War, American politics changed drastically. Instead of having a common enemy and political center, the left/right divide will end America. Also, Reagan gave us the Bushes, which led to Obama, who's trying to kill us as fast as he can. RR's legacy sucks.

Obviously your definition of "everyone around the world" does not include the majority populations of Nicaragua and other Central American countries, in which the Reagan administration supported violent regimes with arms sales and conciliatory economic agreements. Not that it matters: historical facts are irrelevant in the United States, as is any serious criticism of American foreign policy.

Ronald Regan is seen as the great champion of economic liberty and supported the labor union strikes in communist Poland.

However, he saw labor union power destroyed for working Americans, deregulation of utilities, price-gouging, insider trading, S&L scandals, and the beginning of globalizing loss of American jobs.

But In 1900 my people, white people, comprised 33% of world population, today we are at 9% and dropping like a rock. Reagan was no better than Nixon. His war crimes were in a different part of the world and he got away with it because the students of the eighties cared nothing about anything but themselves. oh and playing Nintindo. Worthless. I don't think you can place these at Reagan's feet. If it is true Americans need a common enemy (which I don't buy) why is this Reagan's fault? Reagan did not give us the Bushes, America elected them same as they elected Obama. Bush legacy belongs to Bush and those that voted for them, not to Reagan. Reagan was not perfect but he appealed to the greater ideal in all of us. Reagan stopping being president in 1989. If we don't do the greater good, then that is OUR legacy.
