@manwithouthat44 Atheism is the same any religious belief, albeit that it is the belief that there is no god(s). Think of all beliefs to be placed on a spectrum of believing and non-believing. By this logic Atheism would be diametrically opposed to Christianity, but both religions would still be placed on this spectrum. Atheism states there is no god(s), other religions claim that god(s) exist. Both have no definite proof and faith in a god, or no god, is still faith. QED...

this demonstrates how progress through different stages of history is un-uniform across the planet; some places remain literally in the dark ages; believing witchcraft to be real demonstrates being in the dark ages but it doesn't have anyhitng to do with religion
