  • There are a whole bunch of speech pathologists out there who have made a career for themselves and they have absoutely no skills in helping people who stutter but they like to act as if they do! Just look at the AIS client videos and you will see their clients stuttering left and right. AIS thinks that if a person advertises, looks someone in the eye when they talk and stand up for themselves that this will help them be fluent. All stutterers tried this years ago and it didn't work.

  • @tallerbruce As one of the AIS speech-language pathologists, I can tell you this is not what we think. Do we think self-advertising, maintaining good eye contact, and advocating for one's self are helpful strategies? Absolutely. Is the one, single goal for these things to "help them be fluent," no, it isn't.

  • @StutteringTreatment @StutteringTreatment You should ignore this person who made this comment, at least you want to help people. Why not tell us what your program is about here besides self advertising, eye contact and advocation for ones self so that people can get an idea of what your program is completely about and what they will go thru? One question though: is it possible that a person could be more nervous and anxious by making eye contact and admitting they stutter?

  • @stutteringexpert thanks for the comment. Yes, making eye contact and self-advertising can definitely be nerve-wrecking at first, but many people find these strategies very helpful in the end. • Just a quick question...how do you become a speech pathologist, im 17 and live in australia and had a shocking stutter a year ago, it's pretty much gone now after therapy, and i want to help other teenage adolescents with stuttering, because I've experienced it first hand and know how hard it is???...any tips of how I could get into this line of work?? :)

  • @cshanew123 Great to hear you're interested in joining the profession! Actually, many of the first speech therapists were also people who stuttered. In the United States, you would need to do a full Bachelor's Degree, followed by a Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. After the Master's Degree, certification is required by the American Speech-Language, Hearing Association. I am sure there are very similar steps that are taken in Australia.

  • I think you are beautiful!

  • @truthmanus1 You'll just have to trust me singing works. Just try it, sing easy listening songs and you'll slowly see results for yourself. I'm a musician, it takes a lot of time to learn any instrument, but we all get there eventually, you just need patience and perseverance. Just relax and take it slowly and have fun singing, life is not interesting if it's just plain sailing. Best of luck.

  • why can't lightly stutters talk like barack and throw a uh in ever sentence, lol jk but how can i get into a relationship again with my stuttering? i have a hard time approachin girl with my social phobia and i got a stutterin issue.

  • Look this woman is very pretty so she is nice to look at and watch her talk. The only problem is that not one speech pathologist has ever helped a person not stutter. They literally struggle trying to help stutterers and this includes the AIS people. What does talking about all the therapies out there if they don't work.? All that AIS does is try and tell everyone about the stuttering therapies even if they don't work. If AIS really wants to help children find out what is going on at home.
