When I was a kid and played VS my friends I used to place the mohawk and the sunglassed guys as defense (can't remember which team they were in), those thugs had an effect on the other kids.
Another technos game I've always enjoyed is Super Dodge Ball, remember that one?

My friend still has this, and it is epic.
There's a second one, too, which had a season mode with all the guys from River City Ransom instead of World Cup teams, as well as new moves and stuff, but it was never released outside Japan and is only in Japanese. Shame really, as everyone I knew with a NES had this game, and it would've sold pretty well.
I played it on emulator for a bit, but couldn't really work out the menus. Seemed like a shop for buying power-ups or something.
