I saw this film opening day in Chicago, completely packed house, the movie commence, the crowd cheered, then the opening credits displayed "David Lynch" and the audience produced a deafening cacophony of appreciative adulation......rightly so, rightly so. There was an energy present in my fellow movie-goers which function as a catalyst to joyful, mind-F-ing, entertainment. Thanks, audience, and an immense bombardment of gratitude upon David.

I disagree, I think Lost Highway was Lynch at his best!

It's a shame people can't express opinions on here without fear of being insulted. Personally I found Dune to be his worst film, but not a bad one. Had he got final cut and it wasn't shortened like hell it would have been brilliant. My personal favourites are Fire Walk with Me and Mulholland Drive, but practically everything he does is brilliant :)

Nice to have a real discussion on YouTube, rather than the usual flame wars. David Lynch brings out the best of YouTube. Hehe.

well i did say "arguably" lol and you certainly have obliged which i do appreciate. i almost forgot about the straight story and i can hardly believe that because i was moved to tears by it. Dune is by no means bad at all. but without question its hard to argue that eraserhead, blue velvet, wild at heart, fire walk with me, lost highway, the straight story and mulholland dr. are anything shy of masterpieces. just brilliant stuff! utterly brilliant!

Like your comment, and respect your opinion, but still disagree.

    1) The Straight Story is the most accessible of his films, followed by Elephant Man.

    2) Dune is better than it's reputation would have it, but you really have to have read (and studied) the book to understand it -- which is the film's fatal flaw.

    3) Blue Velvet is a masterpiece, his magnum opus. (Because I say so. ;-)

    4) All these other comments do have me curious about re-watching Wild At Heart and Lost Highway.

being arguably the most accessible of lynch's works hardly makes blue velvet his best. its outstanding don't get me wrong. but lynch has been at his best for practically his entire career. aside from dune his work is nothing short of pure bliss. imho;^)

Also did you know that some of David Lynch's works partially inspired the psychological aspects of Silent Hill? Including his show Twin Peaks.

Fantastic movie - interesting & intriguing storyline and great acting. David Lynch, Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern did a wonderful job here. To be honest, I love this film even more than Blue Velvet. They don't make movies like this anymore. Too bad
