Evolution of an artist's work is always one of my favorite aspects. In my experience, if an artist continues with the same thing, like the same style of painting, it gets old after a time. Personally, I love the change that's gone about with AFI. Somehow, they retain their individuality, while expanding their wings and growing. <3

yeah but you have to admit that they were going to abandon yelling eventually anyway...their style of music was just progressing toward something more polished. Some might say "effete"...but yes there still was a lot of yelling in StS, and the voice trauma definitely impelled them to change dramatically. My guess is that, had the vocal issues never occured, we would have had one or two more albums bridging the style gap between StS and DU.
