Peter Robinson, Hoover research fellow, interviews Paul Rahe, author of Soft Despotism, Democracys Drift, on Hoovers Uncommon Knowledge. Rahe says, It is easy to explain the nanny state, since there is a nanny in all of us. Whats harder to explain is why someone would desire life under the nanny.
i'll get this book, because it will determine the economics in the future, because as always current trends form future events.

I think Rahe's point about collage seniors is an interesting one. When you look at it, doesn't compulsory education teach you more of what to think then how to think? Witness how many students today are terrified of environmental catastrophe. Does this system produce individuals who can sustain a republican form of government? How "educated" in the modern sense, meaning having degrees as opposed to knowing things, were the founding fathers?I've posted a video on this at my angrybeaverfilms blog.
