Meet Nest, the world's first Learning Thermostat.

Nest learns from your temperature adjustments, programs itself to keep you comfortable, and guides you to energy savings. You can control the thermostat from anywhere using a smartphone, tablet or laptop, and Nest never stops learning, even as your life and the seasons change.

Instead of having a schedule and the ability to override it as needed, the two things would be one and the same. You override as needed and it will use this data to construct and perfect your schedule over time.

Say you have a project at work and you're staying up later these days. Few people will think to reprogram for the short-term, but a self-programmable would take a hint after a couple overrides and adjust its schedule. Then when your schedule changed back it would learn that too.

One major flaw - men always want it cooler and women hotter! The question is, is the Nest male or female?!?
