Respectfully I don't necessarily agree with you on that Dave. Certainly you're right for the DH trails but for the Traquair loop (incl Rock Gardens Caddon Bank etc) a good XC bike is quite adequate.

Its a Giant VT, it might be old but its still better than a lot of the crap that you see in Glentress these days, you know the type, all the gear and no idea!!!

I'm going up there in a few weeks and unsure what bike to take, Was that an XC bike?

Its a Giant VT, its more a all mountain bike but any XC bike will do for Glentress, if its Innerleithen your going to then a All Mountain bike or a DH bike is a must
