This Morning Show video highlights the "SECRET" Diversion Program of the Medical Board of California. This is a program that diverts substance abusing doctors from discipline, while supposedly monitoring them. This program allows doctors with an alcohol or drug addiction problem, to continue to practice medicine, operate and treat patients. The problem is, for 27 years this program has failed all 5 audits. All 5 audits show, the Medical Board's Diversion has never protected the citizens of California and patients have been injured. Would you allow your doctor to treat or operate on your child, family member or friend, if you knew he/she doctor had a substance abuse problem? Schoolbus drivers and pilots are either suspended or terminated if caught while under the influence of alcohol or with a history of alcohol abuse. Why should doctors have the right to work while in rehab and keep their addiction a SECRET from their patients?
