Custom Audio Electronics MC-404 Wah pedal: Clean, dirty and with MKI

Looking for the best wah on the market? Maybe this is it.

Here is the CAE MC-404 through a clean channel, through a filthy high gain channel, and in front of a Fuzzfaceless MKI Tonebender PTP clone. (Write to fuzzfaceless@gmail.com for enquiries on these).

The Story:
I needed a good wah quick for a rehearsal and gig in two days time. There was no time to do the usual cork sniffery thing, I just wanted the best I could lay my hands and this just happened to be available (thank you god). I'm VERY pleased with it.

Two Fasel inductors and an MXR 401 Line Driver complete the best sounding wah I've certainly ever used. See what you think.

For this clip I used three guitars: A Clapton signature, Floyd Rose Redmond Model 5 and a Burny SG. The SG and Clapton both feature Mick Brierley's amazing pickups. See www.brierleyguitarpickups.com.au/ for more on them.

As usual, my trusty Laney VC50 amp did the honours with a Violet Design 'The Amethyst' condenser slammed up against its right Greenback to record the happy event.

Berg, I was wondering if you picked up any radio signals when turning on the boost. When I hit the boost and leave the Wah stationary it starts picking up radio chatter. Got any clue to what's happening

@InspiredProphecy I have to say that I haven't experienced anything like that but wahs have been known to do strange things in the right electronic conditions. Could be anything in your chain helping to bring it on.. You might want to get it checked by someone who knows about such things.

Love that fuzz tone. Wah sounded great too. I have the Dimebag Wah and I don't like it because it has too many controls and none sound vintage. This has some flexibility and still a vintage tone to it. I like it. Again though, I love that fuzz pedal. I'm waiting for my Britbender 2 knob fuzz, MKII clone. Germanium is where it's at.

Nice playing! I just got one and I've been fooling around with the trim pots and haven't really found anything that I like. What are your settings? I know you showed the pedal opened up but I couldn't really see what they were set to.

awesome demo. i have the crybaby kirk wah and, although its a great wah, it doesnt get as wah-ee as i wud like. im stuck between this one and the morley bad horsie 2. have u tried both?
