Lena Horne - Stormy Weather (1943)

My goodness her and my grandmother that passed away a while back could of been twins!!! She looks just like her. Too bad I can't post a picture of my grandmother! WOW! Lena Horne is Very very Beautiful too! I liked how neat the hair styles was then and she looks amazing in that dress too!

I get your point,*gorila01,about the preference for fair skinned women,but thats the way the world is rigged You can hardly blame Ms. Horne for being glamourous?! Or the Ronettes or Halle Berry? The same preference holds true for White society, with the blondes,like Farrah Fawsett and Britney Spears. But the world has a preference for dark men such as Denzel Washington and Taye Diggs and on the White side, Italian/Jew men such as John Travolta and Henry Cavill.

However she never would have gotten away with it if she hadn't been so light-skinned; if she had looked like Grace Jones it never would have happened. And that's not in any way belittling her enormous talent.

Furthermore, comparing Ella Fitzgerald to Lena. Horne is as insulting as comparing 2 Tons O Fun to the Supremes!!!

Why does everyone here keep comparing Movie star Lena Horne with common singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters, and the like?! I wish you guys would stop doing this! Joseqhine Baker Nina Mae McKinney,and Hazel Scott are more in Lenas League!

I have a terrific cassette "Billie, Ella, Sarah, Lena." It's terrific. It gives all 4 their due. You don't HAVE to choose. They were all wonderful (Sass was my favorite, however. God bless her, and all of them).
