75mm, actually but yeah, the kwk 42 75mm l/70 still was a great gun.

@egoleech "jagdpanther" means hunting panther. These are tank destroyers that could fit the larger bore L71 88mm cannon, where as the regular panther (because of the turret) fit only the 76mm (which was still a great gun).

@egoleech The 88mm gun in the Jagdpanther is too large to fit practically in the Panther turret.

Without a turret the Jagdpanther had more room for a larger gun and was capable of carrying more frontal armour too.

They did built some Panthers with a new larger turret for the Panther Ausf. F that was similar to the King Tiger and was fitted with the 88mm gun.

@egoleech to answer your question the panther was a tank and had a high velocity 75mm

cannon it had a rotating turret. the jagdpanther was a tank destroyer it had a 88mm cannon the same one on the king tiger. it had more armor then the panther and was ment to kill tanks and the panther was made first on 1942 on hitlers birthday it was his present from his commanders the jagdpanther was made in 1944

question : why is there a regular panther and a jagdpanther. They have the same gun , right?

So why have these two different versions?

Is it because the slanted front and sides of the jagdpanther helps deflecting shells? Then why is there a regular Panther in the first place? ^^
