BBC F1 2009 Mock

Inspired by my own reworking of ITV's 2008 F1 intro, and the work of others, I decided to have a crack at a set of titles along the lines of what I hope the BBC will use for the 2009 season.

I chose to title it "Formula One" rather than the traditional BBC moniker of "Grand Prix" because, save for "Match of the Day" the BBC's titles for sporting programmes simply describe the sport - certainly since the loss of the Grandstand name anyway. Also, because it was much harder to create the words "Grand Prix" with the limited characters of the BBC Sport font I had! (I tried, and it looked awful!)

And, of course, it features a welcome return for "The Chain".

Sorry if it seems to be a British-Driver-Fest, but it is supposed to be for the BBC :) It features the likes of (in no particular order) Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, David Coulthard, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton - featuring most prominently for the sole reason that he is Britain's most likely chance of a World Driver's Championship win in 2009.

Also included are highlights from yesteryear, and from the 2008 season so far.

There can only be one theme for BBC F1 2009 and that is Knights of cydonia by Muse, just listen to it with some F1 footage, i swear all the others will pale into insignificance! Please try it!

While I do like that song, and Muse, I don't think it goes with F1 at all. Just my opinion though.

I was replying to someone who claimed that a song by Muse would be a better choice.

I know full well that the song I used was 'The Chain'; but it wasn't actually the version performed by Fleetwood Mac. I _believe_ it was by Nick Glennie-Smith.

I love the original - it's my ringtone actually! But I chose this version simply because the BBC used it before.

I do prefer the original :D
