Short documentary about the CIA involvement in installing the dictator Shah in Iran in 1953. This was when Iran attempted to take control of their OWN resources. The Shah ruled Iran with American support for 26 years.

  • Docs leaked in the NY Times confirm this had nothing to do with the claim that Irans oil would go to the commies. Mossadeq was a nationalist who wanted Iranian oil revenues for Iran

England didnt like that so they involved the CIA and cut a deal giving up some of Irans oil to US companies.

This was a money grab & the communist bogey man was trotted out to mask the evil perpetrated here. And now we have the mullahs instead of a moderate democratically elected government Syriana prequel?

  • The UK ordered the thing in the first place, and it was the US that ended up reaping the dirty benefits, and the UK got jack-shit. Hahahahahaha... Too funny.

There's no honor among thieves. What a dirty bit of business this all was... The Iranians elect Mossadeq, and he gets taken down on the mere WORRY that he might ally with the Soviets.

How disrespectful, to not even give the man the chance to prove otherwise.

  • How is it that Iranian mobs and secret police can be bought for a few dollars ? Seems to me that the blame for the coup rests with corruptible elements of Iranian society. Why was propaganda against the government effective? Where were the ethical and rational Iranians dxuring this turmoil?

  • It was all about oil back then.

  • finghilli

Your a bloody idiot & a facist how dare you call Mossadegh a communist or attempt to demonise him You moron he was a Nationalist if anything Mossadegh was a GREAT man A Prime minister with integrity Who ACTUALLY CARED about the Iranian people Thanks to Him Irans oil was NATIONALISED which Stopped the EXPLOITATION by the British not just of Irans Oil but of its oil workers who the British Co's treated like shit Mossadegh had the BALLS to stand up to Britian & say NO MORE FREE RIDE

  • Dude, youre just typing things that are clearly out of personal feelings, ncollings3 is right back up your statements if youre sure!

And by the way from what i understood Dr.Mossadegh didn´t support communism.

    youre just ignorant.

  • This sounds eerily similar to the Cou de ta in regard to Chavez not that long ago. Are we being manipulated in the reverse in regard to Chavez?

    Very interesting and worth researching.

  • I'm aware that the mullahs were not in power in 1977. However there were payments in the millions that the US govt was making to keep the mullahs quiet under the Shah:

"The payments to the ayatollahs and mullahs began in 1953 and continued regularly until 1977 when President Carter abruptly halted them."

    SOURCE: SF Chronicle, March 3 1980, p15

  • then why put it up here?

  • ncoolins: carter may have shown to be friend of Pahlavis, but in reality he was in touch with mullas when he spent in Iran for new year, mullas were not in power in1977 and carted never stopped any payment to them.
