In Matthew 23:5 the Master teaches: "They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long." In this humorous short, Toby & Daniel uncover a key element in the Master's teachings on religious expression: discretion.

  • There is no halachic agenda with this video to purport wearing fringes in or out - although both are acceptable within normative Jewish halacha. Rather this video is an admonition (in a fun way) to remember our master's words in Matthew 23:5 "They do all their deeds to be seen by others." Tzitzit should not be worn as a show to be seen by others. Yeshua's teaching should challenge us to evaluate our attitude regarding our manner of Torah observance and the motivations behind our words and deeds.

  • we the pathans(pashtoon) from afghanistan and pakistan also wrap a cloth like it but we wear a large one also having fringes and the straights line like you have,,,,,, today i was studing that pathans r the lost tribe of israel so one was this similiraty i searched it in youtube and finds your video

  • I liked it It made me laugh and Toby And Daniel was funny thanks ffoz!

  • @geowfire77 - There are two mitzvot in connection with tzitzit. 1) If you have four cornered garment they should have tzitzit attached. 2) The Tzitzit should have techelet (blue) attached to each corner. There is a question over what the Torah means when it says Techelet. Although (especially in Israel) there is a "techelet revolution" many Jews now prefer to simply fulfill the first part of that mitzvah since they are unsure how to fulfill the second. I hope this helps.

  • so is he wearing tzitzi's over a shirt, and then 2nd shirt over the tzitzi's?

  • @spreadthegospel

It's commanded to the children of Israel (indicating reference to sons) but most scriptures reference the masculine such as man & still indicates all.

I know many women that are wearing them & that's great because they also need reminding to keep His commandments. But I can not tell you for sure that it's expected for women without an example of one wearing anything other than head coverings & veils in scripture. So I suggest praying and reading before deciding.

    Shalom

  • This was fun haha

  • @bfddoc87 Not exactly. Under Sepharadic minhag it is acceptible to wear it in your pants, but it is RECOMENDED that you see it. I go to a public school unfourtunetly, so I wear it in my pants, but when I'm at home or at the synagouge it is usually all over the place.

  • LOL the sound at 1:13 xD

  • Should women wear tzitzit?

  • Hah hah, this is great. Oh thanks... I was watching to find out about making tzittzit, and this is just what I needed to see before I go and get ready to attach them! Hah ha. GREAT scripture references!!! Thanks again... Shalom!
