Reception of NOAA-18 polar orbiting weather satellite using the Funcube Dongle, an Arrow antenna and gqrx 1.9.197 SDR. The satellite is very strong, already at low elevations the SNR is better than 20dB. At the time of closest approach the signal is almost 40dB over the noise.
Gqrx is an experimental software defined radio receiver for Linux powered by GNU Radio and Qt, see http://www.oz9aec.net/index.php/gnu-radio/gqrx-sdr
For a complete tutorial about receiving NOAA APT transmission and decoding the APT data, see http://www.oz9aec.net/index.php/gnu-radio/gnu-radio-blog/451-howto-receive-an...

@nqzdepofltr As far as I know wxtoimg uses orbit info to figure out which satellite it is, so you have to set the correct date, time and location.
