This tribute is the first in a series of nine where I'll try to give a good example of one of the alignments in D&D. I'm obviously not trying to define the given alignment, just to capture one of its many possible aspects - the human character is too colourful and shifting to be narrowed down easily.
To those who are either unfamiliar with the D&D alignment system, or simply wish to read more about them, here is a link I found very helpful in gaining insight to each of the nine: http://easydamus.com/alignment.html
In this particular vid, I focused on the vengeful aspect of the Lawful Evil alignment (which by the way is one of the hardest of alignments for me to comprehend, which made it so much fun to work with). When those in charge fail to mete out justice and maintain order, either due to moral boundaries or simple incompetence, Lawful Evil characters will appear to tidy up after those pathetic goody-two-shoes. However, while they do act within the boundaries of the law (otherwise they'd be Neutral Evil or Chaotic Evil), their actions speak more of logically withheld aggression and extreme sensitivity to injustice.
But instead of becoming a vigilantee, an otherwise classicly Chaotic Good alignment, they minds become warped and twisted, turning into demonic avenging angels of whatever authority they submit themselves to, an inquisitor-type character from your worst preconceptions and nightmares.
They perceive righteousness (the hallmark of Lawful Good characters) as a series of unnecessary moral shackles that result in nothing but weakness and disorder, and while they do appriciate the cold, uncaring precision of neutrality of their Lawful Neutral cousins, they find their minds and views still too narrowed down for them to comprehend what they call "the harsh reality of things".
The concept of the vid was the story of an aspiring champion of a mysterious, hidden, female anti-paladin, who on the surface trains him, her own son, into the instrument of her vengeance upon all those who wronged her in the past. And while he does succeed in his task and wreaks much havoc in the land, he perishes just at the peak of his glory. Yet it turns out that this was just a bait for the "noble adventurers" to bite on, so they would be oblivious to a much grander scheme, which, eventually, sees their world burned to cinder and ash, the anti-paladin's vengeance exacted on a much, much greater scale than the lowly vendetta she sent her son on. And even so, the more sins punished more severely, the more the anarchists, rebels and lawbreakers will think twice of crossing the true law again...
... or will they?

Heather Dale - Mordred's Lullaby
Pictures used:
Found on 4chan and /tg/ booru mainly or some other website I can't recall.
I do not own the music or the pictures used in this video, they are all the properties of their respective owners, who should all feel awesome because they are all awesome.
It's nice to see a man who shares my preferable style of music and painings. I'm sad that you did't share the links to some beautiful works that i still don't have in my collection, although i'm understand that it will be an enormous work.

The line between Lawful Good and Lawful Evil is a blurry one at best. A LE character will likely profess that their actions are "for the greater good", and this may not be a lie. They may actually BELIEVE that what they're doing is the right thing, though even these LE characters will admit their actions leave a nasty aftertaste. The thing that makes this character type evil is they don't care about that aftertaste, and anyone that does is too weak to lead in their eyes.

@SocialistCatgirl You got that mixed up I think. Percieving yourself as LG while doing LE things doesn't make you LE, you're still LG, you're just simply wrong. All alignments have that 3rd dimension of "doing it right-doing it wrong". What you're describing is a LG character who is either in the process of becoming LN, or one with an intense internal conflict.
