  • Best version ever ! Would be the anthem of the world in UN! just this recording.

  • @tbridge001 Probably right.. more like £7 a session. But Kenny would have been on the top rate regardless. I waa doing a gig in Beirut at The Caves Du Roy in1967 for £7 a week! I even had to get permission from the Home Office to go ..I was 17 at the time.

  • @romamruin Must have been less! I was an engineer at Abbey Road, and getting £5 per week :D

  • The session rate was about £12 for a 3 hour session in those days.. maybe even less? I didn't enter the session scene until around 72 - 73. Will have to ask Robin Jones the percussionist. He might remember.

  • @romamruin it would be about '64/65...

  • @tbridge001 What year was this?

  • @romamruin He told me once: 'I've got so much work on at the moment, I'm making £80 a week!' :)

  • @tbridge001 He waa great musician & a fabulous drummerr.. I totally agree. He & Ronnie Verrell did so much of the studio work, I got to see & meet Ronnie on a few sessions, along with Martin Kershaw, but unfortunately never met Kenny. Being a drummer myself - I know & appreciate the contribution he made in the musical field.

  • @romamruin Kenny was an old friend of mine, and the greatest session drummer of the time (possibly ever...) he did things even on straightforward pop singles that I've not seen before or since (listen again to Cilla Black's singles for example, some fabulous drumming going on!)

  • @sloppyjaloppy86 Kenny Clare..British Big Band Session Drummer ..he & Ronnie Verrel did the majority of all the work in TV - Shows etc during 60. 70s
