Here is my scriptural directive where ANY question of faith and practice is concerned...be it eschatology, soteriology, doctrine, creeds, or what color the carpet should be in the sanctuary.
1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
If we are to have a creed, then THAT is my creed. Full Preterism, Partial Preterism, Hyper-Preterism, Amillenialism, Pre-Millenialism, Post-Millenialism, Dispensationalism...ALL must stand or fall when faithfully held up to the light of scripture.
I continue to search for ANYONE who can offer sound, scripture-based arguments to the Full Preterist position on eschatology. I have certainly not found it here. Discussion of creeds is merely an avoidance of the EXEGETICAL and HERMENEUTICAL issues raised by Full Preterists and is a complete waste of time. The majority of arguments I've seen are mainly centered around a supposed lack of physical correlation with the Full Preterist position in the temporal world. I find such to be insufficient.
I find it amazing that the argument is raised against Preterism that it is somehow invalid merely on the basis of going against the "tradition" of the Church...just AMAZING! Can anyone say....PROTESTANT REFORMATION?? Are the sacred cows of man-made creeds to be defended when they can clearly be shown to depart from truth in SCRIPTURE? Sola Scriptura...so long as it doesn't disagree with my PRIVATE SUMMARY of it! God FORBID! As it is written, Let GOD be true, but every man a LIAR!
