I've always wanted to get a van and make babies in the back, like they did in the 80's.

My dad had a 1990 econoline with the same engine(300 straight 6), and the body went well before the engine did. as a matter of fact, my dad got 500$ for it from the junk dealer(moter still ran, 1 ton van)

this was the most reliable van i ever owned i bought 5 cars last year(mostly beaters) and after 300,000 miles the motor fell out of it.it was great of gas for its size and with 1 ton shocks could haul ass.

question... I was recently looking at an 86 club wagon van which had a v8 engine in it. So I wanna know, does this model year that you are displaying here (83) just already come with only a v6 engine? Or did you have to do an overhaul or something? Do you know what if any models do already have a v6 engine?
I am looking for one made in 91 or earlier that has automatic transmission and at least as small as a v6 engine.

@Ihateoldyork it's actually an I6. 6 cylinders are usually placed in the basic trim model of a vehicle particularly in trucks (this includes full sized vans too). This van here was probably the most basic van you could buy at the time, except it had an automatic transmission. There is also engine swapping. My uncle's pickup use to have a V8, now it has an I6

Nice Econoline. My dad used to have a 78' Econoline 100 inline 6, the last year of the round headlights. Had a 3 on the tree manual shifter the last year of those too i believe. I've always wished he kept it so i could have fixed it up.

@ReDRuM868 hmm, I thing this van would have a manual for a basic transmission. The overdrive automatic on it was the only feature that was upgraded on the van when it was bought. Brand new it didn't even have power steering and it still doesn't have power brakes. Everything else is basic basic.

@trav10854 way back when Ford had the E100s and F100s as the basic trim model for that rating of truck (in this case half-ton) the 150 models basically were a higher trim until about the late 80s or 90s when the 100 models were dropped and only the 150s remained. There was also a time when 3/4-1 ton trucks had a standard and a Heavy Duty trim. Today all 3/4-1 ton trucks are Heavy Duty.
