Scouting out a climbing route from Monte Cristo to Twin Lakes, up and over the Columbia Peak ridge, then down to Blanca Lake. More of a scramble, but fantastic route!

NICE i've hiked up monte cristo a handful of times never made up to the lakes. i went to glacier basin I believe with some buddies and made a fire and ended up staying the night. I loved it up there. How far was the hike to twin lakes and what type of bait did you use for the trout?

The hike up to Poodle Dog Pass is the toughest part of the hike, from there Its about 2+ miles to Twin Lakes up and down along a ridge. The scenery is fantastic and the lakes are loaded with trout. I normally fly fish, but we also caught a few using a small orange Mepps spinner. Its a great overnight hike, enjoy!
