  • HaHa yes I play with the drummer nowadays.

He is still great... I saw the neon hearts at the civic supporting a band called Bethnal in 1978?.

Yes The singer from NH wore a black bin liner... oh yes indeeed....great times indeed

  • I remember the bin liner well haha. I have now uploaded Popular Music from the same show. Great stuff.

  • i saw them in derby around early 80's if my memory serves me well...excellent gig...wish i was still there and it would happen again..please upload more ...how about 'body language'?..thats my favourite ..:)

  • Many thanks for the comments. I do intend to convert some more footage that I have and put it on here. I dont have much more - if memory serves its Popular Music plus some gig footage of Pretty as a Picture, Rings of Confidence and (I think) Venus Eccentric. Keep checking.

  • I remember when this originally aired on TV. Absolutely anything else from this time and place would be very precious. Alas when I moved from the UK I somehow lost both my Neon Hearts live at the Raglan cassette (and what happened to my Silhouette Theatre one as well - remember them anyone?!) and the classic NH badge.

  • Many thanks again for the comments. Due to overplay, my live Raglan cassette fell apart ages ago alas. I had the Silhouette Theatre single (You Keep Coming Round) but sold it on Ebay. The Neon Hearts version was much better I thought. I do still have the badge though as a great reminder of those sweaty gigs.

All being well, Ill upload Popular Music this weekend.

  • That's awesome

  • @WolvoExPunk I went to that gig. You must be right because i remember walking out half way through the Generation X performance. Circa 78/ 79 ?

  • Saw these supporting Generation X at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. They blew Gen X off the stage. Saw em at the Royal Oak a few years later, when they reformed. THey did a lot of new stuff which didnt go down well at first. They soon got things going later on in the set.

  • good stuff this

  • This is lovely. Among the best I have ever heard and seen.

  • the most under rated band goin at the time , some of the shite that got in the charts at that period was so hyped

  • R.i.P Paul Vincent Raven...

  • Bloody great MR Raffles!!... We still see Steve around town I'll have to tell him about this..!!

  • Wow... memories.... my younger brother was at school with Paul R and we lived just down the road, so I got to know them.. saw them at the Raglan and dear old Barbarellas - still have the 8" (!) Venus Eccentric somewhere inn the vinyl vault - must dig it out.

Shame they never acheived more.. ahead of their times and f****d by a rotten choice of record label.

Gosh - for a moment there I was 22 again!
