WELCOME BACK TO THE ... PAST

@Rothery2010 Try listening to Camel, Andrew Latimer's solos are great, too.

Rothers may not be the most technically gifted guitarist but he is one of the most tasteful when it comes to soloing in my opinion. He doesn't just sit there and shred the whole time but he can when he wants, but and they are always emotional

@JasonBecker85 It doesn't matter who is the best or not! You cannot compare their music. If a guitarsolo hits you and gives you that amazing feeling, it's just great!

One of the greatest!
and I agree, Rothers & Gilmour are the best in making the guitar sing and express feelings

Chelsea Monday :o)
In fact that whole album is just another fucking league.

@physicalgenius : What. No Grendel? Blasphemy.
Look at the subtitle.
I think Grendel was dated in 82. So what? ;-))

1. David Gilmour
2. Mark Knopfler
3. Steve Rothery
My three favourite guitarists.
I don't know if he is the best, but rothery is my favorite.
The way he can play a guitar without hearing the "atack" is amazing. That long tone coming from nowhere and going to nowhere.
He is the core of the atmosphere in the early Marillion music.

I saw him in an interview say his best solo was "The Web". I agree. Or maybe "This Strange Engine".
