This will force a change in your Dad's lifestyle. He'll have to watch his diet, take blood thinners (it may be just aspirin) and start walking to keep the artery from reclosing. If he makes the switch, he'll be around a long time. Had my "exhaustive coronary episode" when I was in my early 40s. Not quite a heart attack, but it did slow me down. Now I've slowed and have a weight problem I never had when I was working harder. No winning.

Yep, you self-centered prick... Actually, it's quite a normal reaction, to think about your own mortality when faced with that of your parents. My father had couple of heart attacks and such in his late 40's through 50's. Then he retired and he's had the healthiest dozen years he's ever had. Not that there's any connection between working too hard and an early death. Not at all. Best to your Dad.

Oh I see. Here in the Netherlands we're not used to large distances, the other side of the country is only like 2 or 3 hours away :P

Ok that is enough bad news for this year. Only good things for here on out. My Dad died at 57 and I am 44 so I live a lot healthier than he did and I have a 2 year old so I have to be around a while but just in case I have term life insurance........

This family history of heart disease is one of the reasons I chose to prioritize childrearing early in life rather than wait until I was well established. I am not so great about the healthy living though...

Pretty quick to have an edited video the same day your dad has a heart attack. Anyway, I hope your dad is well and you give him the attention he deserves.

Unfortunately he is in the ICU on the other side of the country, but at least my mom and brother are with him.
