@thepurplebottIe I love the upright bass but it's not the ONLY way to go for "jazz". Part of what makes jazz great is the freedom that it allows it's players to have. There is no right way or wrong way to play a jazz chart. If someone wants to play an upright, great! If someone feels that they can best render the song on electric, that's also great! and just to add to the fire; I would would personally play this piece with this group on an electric upright bass!

@thepurplebottIe that statement is not true for for bossa. It's doesn't really matter whether it's electric or upright (probably a little bit better if it's electric b/c of a sharper sound.)

A lot of Europeans are sometimes (not always) cynical about the US... In my opinion this is what makes the States a great country... high school guys being introduced to bossa, jazz.... no, it wasn't great but I really enjoyed listening to these guys, so well done to them. And hats off to the drummer and percussionist.
