I love my 1000h, besides its compact size and power (well not that really powerful, but it works great) it handles pretty much everything I throw at it, it syncs with my phone help me with all the documents I need and play all my music and videos (up to 720p). for someone whose studying like me, this is a great mini-notebook. Pricey though but well worth it. I don't use windows xp that was shipped with it though, makes it sluggish so I installed a lightwieght linux on it and upgraded RAM and HDD

I believe the number system is to do with screen size; ie 700 would mean 7"; 800 = 8"; 900 = 9"; 1000 = 10" etc.
I have had a 700 (cant remember exact version) has 2Gb SSD but only 7" screen. I now have a 1005ha which is a 10" screen.

The 901 boots up faster than the 1000H because it has a SDD, and the 1000H doesn't. The computers have the same specifications, but the 1000H has a bigger screen..
Don't assume people always think that a bigger number is better.

Windows Xp is sux , Windows 7 rules :D
i installed windows 7 on my 1000H and it's work faster in boot and actuly it's berfect to me thanx xp take a min in boot !!

Yes, the HDD is impressive
but I should say the SSD of 901 is no good~~~
(it just my unit has problem, I found other 901 has a better Read & Write speed)

which eee pc would u recommend for a first yr university student? 901 or 1000H? thanks

I would recommend 1000H as it's large HDD and keyboard. As a student, larger laptop is more important than light-travel unit. :)

Could you also test if you could install autodesk autocad 2008/2009 on eee PC? I hope to find out...

sorry, our testing units are returned to ASUS.
but what I know is Autocad should be no problem but of course, a little bit slow
