I don't know why people say Oscar is not Mexican. You want my opinion? He's more Mexican than Chavez is. He has done more for Mexicans in their community than Chavez has done and now he promotes them. He bought a city block in East LA to help his Mexican community. He helped the poor in his family's hometown in Durango and also is a dual citizen. He's a positive role model for many young Mexicans as well.

Being macho is not being Mexican, helping your people is.

When I first saw Oscar fight back in 1992 I thought he was all hype and just a pretty boy that was eventually going to get exposed as an ordinary boxer,but he proved me wrong by fighting and beating the best fighters of his generation.And now he is a healthy(not punch drunk),smart boxing promoter and owner of world famous RING magazine,not bad for a kid from the Barrio.
