The NVA (North Vietnamese Army) was the term given to the Vietnam Peoples Army (VPA/Quân Đội Nhân Dân Việt Nam) by US forces during the Vietnam - American War. Funded by leading communist countries, they had weapons mainly from China and Russia, as well as weapons left from previous conflicts. They fought the French during the first Indo-China war, and then the United States in the second. They defeated both countries and took full control of Vietnam in 1975.

  • Hi VNMIG,

I just wanted to let you know that I find this montage very creative -- and commie songs very catchy. In fact, I have " 進 Về Sài Gòn " and " Sài Gòn 崛起 " saved in my computer.

    Best, ZHLu

  • Oh thank you very much.

  • @shughes375 Funny thing is Vietnam actually makes helicopter parts for the US for almost 1/4 the price of it's actual creation. Economically this is a win for the US

  • It is also conveniently by the South Vietnamese and the Americans that the Thieu regime also broke the 1973 Paris Peace Accords. Read on: "The Paris Peace Accords had little practical effect on the conflict, and were routinely flouted by the North Vietnamese and even more so by the Saigon government, which enlarged the area under its control in 1973. North Vietnamese military forces gradually moved through the southern provinces and two years later were in position to capture Saigon."

  • the NVA and VC-NLF shot down alot of american warhorses in that war UH1 bell Huey A great helicopter hope the Vietnamese ary are still making good use out of the captured Helicopters

  • VNMIG did you know that at the same time the the vietnam was happening in my country there was a war too right up till 94 some pockets of resistance is still seen today but from your first indochina war in my country there was a war but not a strong war it started in 1969 the troubles it was called look into it funny enough it was against a U.S ally and most U.S supported it and so did the USSR

  • The Vietcong is the americam name for the National Liberation of the South (NLF). It is actually an integral part of the Army of the Vietnamese People. The reason it was treated as a separated entity is for political reason so that the world understand that it is not the consent of the Vietnamese people to keep their country divided beyond 1956. When the country is reunited, naturally, this separate entity disappeared, and all armed forces are consolidated into 1 national military.
