No, we would have fired this against Soviet tank formations, invading Soviet bloc armies, etc. in East Germany and Czechslovakia. For approximately 40 years the Soviets held, and totally controlled, Poland, East Germany, Czechslovakia, Hungry, Romania,, Bulgaria and other countries.
They repeatedly threatened to invade West Germany and the rest of Western Europe. It was ONLY because of the US Forces in Western Europe that this did not happen.

This missle was VERY accurate. The only problem was that it's radio link was primitive, and could be taken over by others, whop could "re-direct" the missle. I was stationed with the 5th Missle Battalion, 39th Artillery in Bamberg, Germany during the Cuban Missle Crisis. We had 3 misslies, armed with nuclear warheads, ready to fire on 5 minutes notice. We stayed at that alert level for 21 days (long after civilians in the USA thought it was all over and done with.
