There may have been voices superior to Freddies, but they could not sell a song like Freddie thank God for Thomas Alva Edison. Others after us can also enjoy him he was pretty special.
TexMex Music along with New Mexican Music has always been my favorite music. I grew up in New Mexico in the 1950's listening to Al Hurricane, Roberto Mondragon, Roberto Griego, Rene, and other New Mexican singers. Freddy Fender was and is one of my very favorite singers because I met him in Corpus Christi, Texas in the 1970s and got to know him and his music. Yes! Freddy became an intimate friend back then and I really rue his demise at such an early age.
Finally a version that has lyrics that seem to befit the title.
