that should be a warranty job if theyve designed it wrong

I'm thinking about getting a trike, There are few under $1500 I am considering. Are you happy with the actionbent? Catrike has a new villager model which has a more upright seat and much more clearance. It seems to be designed more for casual riders who may want not want or need a super fast trike. It looks nice but I'm not sure if it has enough gears for the hills of NE Pa.

BTW, SimpleNature, If you still check in, Can you explain in writing what you accomplished here? Its my fault, unless someone looks me in the eye and walks me through the process, I'm easily confused.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. My nonscientific observations suggest a minimum 85% of recumbent bike and trike riders have beards.I don't have a beard, Does back hair count? LOL!
Actionbent provides a high value trike although changes in the Taiwanese supplier has taken place. As for the steering geometry, this has been corrected in the latest generation of Actionbent trikes. For more information, you are invited to join the Yahoo Actionbent group where a full account of the basis of this video are fully detailed.
As for the new Catrike Villager, it is every bit a Catrike and is a high quality trike. I would agree with your assessment about the limited gear range.

Is it acceptable practice to ride one of these without a beard?

I believe riding beardless is allowed.
