Rafik Mankarios wishes to thank his big band musicians for their solid playing at the Montreal International Jazz Festival (2009 edition). The Rafik Mankarios Big Band was exclusively put together to pay tribute to jazz legend and drum master, Buddy Rich. Thank you Buddy for contributing so much to jazz and especially to drumming. The world of jazz just isn't the same without you. Thank you for inspiring generations of musicians with your flawless, powerful and honnest playing.

Excellent, i would love to be able to get a band together here in the UK to pay tribute to the great Mr Rich, not easy to do though, Well Done you have done this justice!!!!

Very nice work there. The modern drummer pays tribute to the "old school" legend! I really enjoyed this clip and of course, we all miss Buddy enough to pay tribute in our own ways. You might get a kick out of my homemade "tribute" clips on here as well. Does this big band ever play in Las Vegas? I would love to see you guys in concert. Don Menza was here with his band years ago but when he left the scene it seems like jazz all but died out here. Thanks again for this outstanding performance!
