Awful place, Redcar.

Visited Redcar over the bank holiday weekend. Replacing the boards on the boarded-up shop fronts with computer-generated idyllic interior scenes looks pretty and may deter vandals but it's just more council tax payers' money used up on the dictionary definition of window dressing. The council needs to prioritise local businesses to stabilise the economy. Sad to say, this seaside town has much potential but needs to attract more visitors and whoever you vote for can't make the weather better!

Very sorry state of affairs, Redcar & Cleveland council have a lot to answer for.

There is good and bad in every town. The council is trying to improve the town but some people insist on blocking these developments and holding the town we love back. Coatham enclosure - what would I prefer some housing and a fantastic leisure facilty or a dog toilet 'village green'? What a joke.

great video

Redcar high street used to have two top end fashion shops, Jonti and something else, it had 5 nightclubs, all busy, it had a public swimming pool and a leisure centre. It had at least 10 pubs. It had a Boots a Woolworths a Superdrug, lots of shoe shops.
The seafront was not derelict. So...what happened?

Oh, man! If you live around there, I feel sorry for you. It seems like a council joke. Somebody needs to stand up and say enoughs is enough!

vera baird voted with the labour goverment , to close park avenue post office , hopefully we might get a change of goverment on may the 6th, and get rid of a labour mp, who has done nothing for the town of redcar, just like the labour council

@whitfield1944 I would like to see Labour work with the Lib's but Vera Baird needs to go. I'm sure most of us don't want the cons back in ever again. Cameron as prime minister & Osborn as Chancellor? No thank you.....
BTW - Vera did do something for Redcar now I think about it. She apparently had £75000 spent on her home there after she flipped it thus enhacing the peasants view!

So, at last, the courts have ruled in favour of the Coatham protesters. That's excellant news for the town as no body wanted it save for the silly MP's.
Now, can they concentrate on the bloody town centre instead? It's ok to spend £30 million pounds on the sea front & a vertical pier, but its not going to be any use if the town stays the same. Surely they can spend some money on the boarded up shops to make it look better at least? I see Levey's is closing already.....
