The Black-necked Stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus) or Jabiru is a large wading bird. It is a resident breeder in southern Asia and Australasia, from India east to New Guinea and the northern half of Australia. The Black-necked Stork breeds in marshes and other wetlands in tropical lowland. This bird feeds on fish, frogs, large insects and sometimes small mammals, reptiles and small birds.

De zwarthalsooievaar is een bewoner van moerasgebieden en komt voor in India, Zuidoost-Aziƫ, Nieuw-Guinea en Australiƫ. De plaats Jabiru in het Noordelijk Territorium is naar deze vogel vernoemd.
De zwarthalsooievaar voedt zich voornamelijk met vissen, kikkers, reptielen en krabben.Een paartje van de zwarthalsooievaar blijft elkaar het hele leven trouw.
