While ordinary scientology is not particularly evil or life-threatening so long as you do not develop a mental illness, the main dangers lie in an association of Scientologists known as the Sea Org.

The sea org is the backbone of Scientology - its members handle most aspects and functions of the cult, ranging from management to fund-raising. While this may seem innocent enough, a lot goes on within this organisation that is much darker than its innocent façade.

Members of scientology, children and teenagers in particular, are pressured into signing a 1 billion year contract of service (as members are expected to fulfil several reincarnated lifetimes of service), after which members work for very little pay and live a life full of abuse, with the constant threat of being sent to the Orwellian-esque Rehabillitation Project Force. They cannot leave formally unless they undergo 3 years of hard physical labour, E-metered confessionals, social isolation and group pressure. Attempting to escape and failing results in demotion to the RPF. Escaping means disconnection from family and friends within the cult.

The RPF is essentially a detention facility for Sea Org members. People on the RPF may only eat the food left over after the other SO members have eaten, may not speak to a Sea Org member unless spoken to, are not allowed to walk (they must run everywhere), are not allowed holidays, receive even less pay than org members, brainwashed even more than org members and are required to do hard manual labour for long hours. People can be assigned to the RPF for up to 10 years. People such as Uwe Stuckenbrock have died in the RPF.

Org members cannot have children while working. If someone does become pregnant, they are pressured into abortion. Most unmarried members share rooms with 3 to 12 other people, and are often denied proper sleep and forced to skip meals because of the pressures of the job. Theyre denied proper medical care, are not provided health insurance, are not given sick days, and the Sea Org will not purchase their medicine for them. If a free clinic won't provide the medicine someone needs, the Sea Org management won't shoulder the costs. Sickness is also treated as the fault of the sick person, as Scientologists believe that the cause of illness is that the sufferer is connected to a Suppressive Person.

A Suppressive Person is someone who leaves the cult, a member who speaks out against Scientology, or a critic.

Because Scientology has religious status in many countries, labour laws do not apply to the Sea Org. Therefore, its members have no protection from long and abusive work hours. Many work 17-20 hour days because of the pressures of the job. There are thousands of minors working under these conditions in the Sea Org, and those that complain are punished. If an Org member commits a punishable offence, they are sent to the Rehabilitation Project Force.

While only up to 20,000 scientologists are part of the Sea Org, that is still far too large a number to be left unnoticed. These people are abused, both physically and mentally, without remorse or option to escape. Those that are able to leave are labelled as dissenters and are cut off from family and friends. This is not religion. This is modernday slavery. For those that are still inside, for those who have left with nowhere to go, for the families who have been torn apart by this vile pseudo-faith, the org shall be dismantled, along with the rest of the false religion known as Scientology.

  • I was on the RPF from the summer of 1996 until March of 2003. I was in the Sea Org from 1975 until March 2003. I'm free to discuss it with researchers. Chuck Beatty, Pittsburgh, 412-260-1170, call after 9pm Eastern Standard Time.

  • I'm curious, J.

Why did you choose Scientology as your main topic?

How did you become interested in enlightening people about it?

Where and what are your sources of information that these videos are based on?
