Sharepoint 2007 supports various events on Lists such as document library. These events is classified into two categories - Synchronous and Asynchronous. Synchronous events such as "ItemAdding" or "ItemDeleting" occur before the action has taken place and Asynchronous events on the other hand, such as "ItemAdded" or "ItemDeleted" occur after the action has taken place. So, if you need to do something after adding a item in list such as you may want to email the administrator when an item has been added or you may want to do some validation checking before deleting an item then you have to create an Event Receiver for that list using Vs.Net 2005 Extension to perform those job. In this lesson you will learn how to use Visual Studio 2005 to create a list Event receiver class to handle both synchronous and as asynchronous events.

Technologies Used: MOSS 2007, VS.Net 2005, Sql Server 2005, VS.Net Extension for WSS 3.0.
