Watch for yourself on hulu... you will agree. Although the slowed down version does seem to look a lot like it I can almost be 99.9% sure that it is not.

Another comment below says that it is a rendering mistake as said on Lostpedia. I checked that out too. After searching for a while and about to give up I found it. I will post a link and in my next post what it says....

NO NO NO NO NO!!! At first glance I said "OMG that had to be the Black Smoke..." After watching it a few times and thinking about it, it seemed to make sense.

1. It was the first episode so we wouldn't have even known it was the black smoke.

2. Its been such a long time it seemed possible that it could have been there just unnoticed.

I watched it many more times before deciding to check the web for more info...

I watched the pilot again on hulu and that little clip shown is only about 2 seconds

there was this episode about ana lucia (mabye season 3... not sure...) where she is at the police station, and the cars (that were parked) numbers were :

And the addition of all of those is 108...
