I think Poo's meditation is him coming to terms with death. Once our senses are stripped away, there's only nothingness, and there's nothing we can do to avoid this fate. By accepting the incremental divestment of his senses, he's essentially accepting death. And once he accepts death, his training is complete. It's very Buddhist.

Earthbound: the only game that has Murder, Violence, sexual temptation, and (questionable) abortion of fetus' and still got past the ESRB with a E for Everyone. I somehow feel the ESRB is retarded sometimes...

@MelodyYakushi It's even worse if you've seen the fan animation of Polestar Preschool in a Silent Hill-type transformation. The animator uses the chanting as the background music. It didn't help that I'd seen it before I started playing Earthbound, so the second I heard this I started freaking out thinking that rivers of blood would start coming out of the hills.
