Phoenix vs. Realflight G4.5 RC Sim with Trex 500, captured using fraps.com software. Phoenix is using the stock Trex 500 3D model. RealFlight is using the swap page Trex 500 custom tailored by Finless Bob and Jason Krause. The last parts show blade scrapes and how the simulators handle them.

  • how come on the 2nd part the RF heli just shut down while the Phoenix one kept going?

  • @aerialboy55 I think you might be talking about throttle hold. If so, I just wanted to show how RF audio is more real-to-life then Phoenix, when performing autos or landing. I apologize if I misunderstood your question. FYI: as an update almost 1 year later.. I still use Phoenix on my Atom 1.6GHz netbook (as RF will not run on my netbook). I still prefer the more accurate real-to-life-of RF, but the Phoenix on the netbook is just to convenient, so I have been using Phoenix more often.

  • @cognetic i heard that since 2.5 phoenix is better so as of now with the latest updates and stuff which flight sim do you think is more realistic?

  • @megamindstorm101 Yes... I still prefer RF for real life Trex 500 simulation. But, still fly on Phoenix the most, since I use my netbook the majority of the time.

  • @cognetic Cool video. Question: Are you running Phoenix 3.0 on your netbook, or is this the 2.5 version? I'm trying to figure out if Phoenix 3.0 will run smoothly on a a netbook or notebook if I buy a new one (ie today's "new", not top of the line, but decent), especially since notebooks/netbooks have integrated graphics cards. Thanks!

  • @pi3k I have only tested Phoenix 2.5 on a netbook. Click to see all my videos, and see the one I posted for Phoenix running on a netbook. I am not sure how 3.0 will work. Perhaps one day, I will test and post the results. Things are a little crazy these days.

  • I still use RF G4.5 for my TREX 500 training. I use Phoenix on my netbook, on the go... since RF will not run well on the netbook. In short, they both have there strengths. But I still gravitate to RF for a more realistic to real-life feel. Phoenix, with their free lifetime upgrades, gives me hope that one day they will get it to a level that I will be happy with.

  • @cognetic ok so phoenix is more realistic but when it comes to the Trex 500 realflight is more realistic? I see. Well anyways I think I chose phoenix because I love the planes and helis it has, I think it looks better and seems more profesional, I hear its really good, its cheaper than realflight and it comes with a real dx5e (if bought from horizon hobby) so I can use it in real life until I get a dx6i :)
