@shugtech I was about to comment that this was a model K and it must therefore be a 73 model, but you've explained it very well. I have this model which I bought, new in November 1973. Did you know that the very first UK model K's had a twin leader front brake?.

I have a GT380M It was built in 74 and 1st registered in Charlotte North Carolina in 1975. I have 28mm carbs off the 550 on it and the pistons are 10mm overiszed (or close to 10, I don't remember any more) so that makes it almost 600cc. It is very fast, but only does about 20mpg.

Aye, it is the K color scheme, I thought the white and red looked excellent, so I painted it in the K colours, Just my personal preference. the bike is an M
cheers

Very very nice. Looks like a K rather than an M though. That paint scheme was from the K.
I did find out on my hunt for spokes! the old model with the drum brake had shorter spokes due to the drum funnily enough!! I have nearly finished rebuilding a dt175 1976 model, one of the old twinshocks, it is white with the red decals, looks nice, just the back mudguard and indicators to aquire and ill be just about finished.
all the best.
